Following Sargent’s Light, 8ridge explores landscape through direct observation and a restrained watercolor process inspired by John Singer Sargent’s remarkable sensitivity to light, economy of means, and expressive brushwork.

Each work is painted with minimal reworking, allowing light, water, pigment, and the movement of the brush to remain visible in the final image. Rather than seeking to reproduce Sargent’s paintings, this practice explores a way of seeing—one that values clarity, spontaneity, and the expressive possibilities of watercolor.

This ongoing exploration takes shape in the original watercolor works of artist and designer Jimmy Ji.
